The performance introduces us to the characters of the eponymous short story by the great figure of the Bulgarian National Revival Lyuben Karavelov. Chorbaji Neno and his wife Nenovitsa are a parodic model of the patriarchal society during the Bulgarian Revival. The social group of the Chorbajii (members of the rural elite), absorbed by its aspiration for wealth accumulation, sloth and disregard for the others is unable to raise a generation worthy of respect. This is what is like also the heir to the Chorbaji family, Nicolcho. „The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree “ the people say. In our performance “the fall of the apple fells the whole tree”.
